Pressure Testing OF GAS CYLINDERS

Hydrostatic Testing is a non-destructive test procedure used to check cylinders for leaks, structural flaws, durability, and corrosion. It is used to check a cylinder’s structural integrity. Two methods, viz; water jacket method and non jacket method, are available. We, in our test station, are using the non-jacket method. Testing consists of filling water inside test cylinder after connecting required adapters/hoses. Water is pressurized by means of hydro-pneumatic pump to a certain pressure causing the cylinder to expand. The total and permanent volumetric expansions of the cylinder are determined by measuring the amount of water displaced by the expansion of the cylinder when under pressure and after the pressure has been released. An external and internal visual inspection of the cylinder is also performed.

All Industrial gas cylinders are mandated to be hydro tested at regular intervals by Petroleum & Explosives Safety Organization (PESO) recognized testing centres. We are one of the very few Industrial gas cylinder testing centres operating in Mangalore. Our centre is approved by Petroleum & Explosive Safety Organization (PESO), Nagpur. We operate a state of art, fully equipped testing centre manned by qualified & experienced team of Engineers.

There is a specially dedicated & experienced team to carry out the testing as per Gas Cylinder Rules. This unit also has cylinder drying facility which helps cylinder preparation prior to High pure gas filling resulting very reliable and stable purity of gas inside cylinders throughout its service.
